I remember a girl. Let’s call her v.
V and me would walk into my grandparents living room as my dad and them would go into the backyard and talk about adult things.
V would pull out a small kit with a big Red Cross printed on the front. She’d place a hand much larger than mine on my knee as she bent down and sat on the ground in front of me.
I’d sit there and kick my legs up as she opened the kit.
She’d whisper in my ear and tell me what we were going to play.
Adult games adult games adult games.
V and me would play and I’d smile at her because her hands were soft and her hair smelt nice.
My family would come in and the kit with the cross would be gone.
Months later I smiled like v because she was the coolest person to me and I loved her smile so much that I wanted to be like her. I thought I should look up to her and take on her lovely traits.
V is gone now and I barley remember her.
But I remember that kit with the cross and I remember how I never played with my friends like that.

Weird things I like about being underweight:
- no more period
- touching the fuzzy hair at the top of my back, it’s just so soft
- wearing my clothes from middle school
- people I don’t know commenting on how skinny I am (i.e. dentists)
- no fear of breaking things if I climb on them
- less space on my legs to have to shave
- going braless
- people treat me like a kid sometimes. they’re generally more kind to me
- sleeping with my arms under my ribs/stomach without them going numb
- feeling my hipbones jam into the mattress
- hair ties falling up my arm
- feeling tiny in a bathtub
